Extensive Definition

Dehydrogenate is a term used for any material which can separate hydrogen from any compound. Materials may consist of enzymes, microwave pulses, etc. which agitate the element to separate from its elemental counterpart and hence break down into individual compounds of hydrogen. Such dehydrogenation can extract hydrogen from simple water and could plausibly be an energy storage solution, in the form of extracting hydrogen fuel from water or other source materials. For thermodynamic reasons, such extraction would require more energy than could be recovered in burning the fuel, but could still be valuable.
